New Democracy Coalition Director Travels To West Africa: Fact finding & Lectures

New Democracy Coalition founder has traveled to two West African countries in a democracy “fact finding” mission.

“I wanted to explore the extent to which democracy has settled into the way West African countries are governed,” said Kevin Peterson, whose fact-finding included interviews and first hand research in the countries of Mali and Senegal in January and February, 2010.

“Both countries happen to be celebrating their 50th anniversary of independence and it can be safely reported that both government are stable and are continuing to strengthen their core democratic institutions, including the judiciary, legislative and executive branches of federal government,” added Peterson who visited the national capitals in Bamako, Mali and Dakar, Senegal.

Peterson also led a lecture series at the University of Mali and spoke to several non government organizations (NGOs) on behalf of the United States Embassy’s Speakers Program
