What We Do

New Democracy Coalition is about results related to advocating for new laws and practices that broaden democracy.

Through our Civic Literacy Initiative, we work to produce local and national forums to educate citizens, especially youth, on the importance of civic engagement.  New Democracy Coalition's Democracy Lab specifically seeks to engage high school and college aged students. Additionally, New Democracy Coalition hosts community volunteer events.

Through our Civic Policy Initiative, we collaborate with local and national organizations to foster laws that expand voting and civic participation

Through our Electoral Justice Project, we collaborate with community-based organization to protect the vote on election day and advocate for voting technologies that will ensure a fair election process.

At our annual New Democracy Service Award event, New Democracy Coalition honors national citizens for their dynamic work in the area of social justice.  2004 recipients of the New Democracy Service Award were:  The Reverend C.T. Vivian and Congressman John Lewis.
